Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 6 (2014) Cre: Dave Filoni

2014 saw the arrival of the sixth season in The Clone Wars saga. It was also the year, following their buyout of Lucasfilm, that Disney cancelled the show, despite its popularity, which resulted in the series only having thirteen episodes, instead of the twenty plus that the prior seasons had featured.

In terms of the season itself, it began as the fifth season had ended; with conspiracy and intrigue. Season Six also marked the run-in to finally meeting up with the events of Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith (2003), in which the canonical Clone Wars end.

While there are a lot less episodes in this season, there is still a lot to enjoy for fans of the show, including more intriguing looks at the lesser visited parts of Star Wars lore, such as dark magic. One thing this show did consistently well is highlight and focus on a wide array of characters, and not just the ones that feature heavily in the live action saga.

Many what-ifs surround this season of The Clone Wars in particular, and unfortunately, thanks to the show's cancellation, we will never know what else Dave Filoni would have provided. Regardless, the thirteen episodes the fans are given do provide much in the way of the entertainment that made The Clone Wars so popular.

I particularly enjoyed the final three episodes. In these are found some very cool moments, including lightsaber duels, a surprise appearance and even more of the dark conspiracy that envelops Revenge Of The Sith's events.

Overall, this was a season that sadly got cut short, but still managed to give further context and depth to the final iteration of the prequel trilogy. Thankfully, in 2020, a seventh and final season of this show would be released on Disney Plus, giving this show and its fans the conclusion it deserved.
