This Sam Raimi directed sequel had plenty to live up to, thanks to its iconic predecessor. Raimi manages to keep and even improve on the prior film's blend of horror and comedy, which makes this second effort even more entertaining than the first.

Furthermore, the story, like the first film, keeps things fairly straightforward, with the main focus being on action and comedy set pieces. The physical effects are as cheesy as they are great, including the stop motion elements, which I for one loved.

It also gives the face of the franchise some great developments that makes him even better as a protagonist and allow for some awesome moments. Plus, the film's ending is as bizarre as it is great.

Bruce Campbell returns to star once more, and brings along his brilliantly emotive and hilarious facial expressions. This, coupled with his keen wit, makes him such a likeable and entertaining face for the franchise. He just embodies everything said-franchise is about perfectly. Of the supporting cast,

Sarah Berry gives the best performance, which helped make her the most memorable supporting character of either of the two films. Beyond that, Kassie DePaiva, Dan Hicks and Richard Domeier also provided performances worthy of note.

Overall, this a perfect example of a sequel done right, and done better. It not only encapsulates everything good about the original, it out-does it in nearly every way, which I did not expect, baring in mind how good the first one was. Put simply, this was a fantastic follow-up - groovy, even.
