Slenderman (2018) Dir: Sylvain White

If you look at the reviews for this film, it paints a dire picture of the quality that this film has, or rather, doesn't have. I really hoped that I would find some positivity to comment on, that perhaps the critics had neglected to mention.

However, I genuinely have struggled to think of a single point to contribute. The film is just terrible. The lighting is almost non-existent at times, with much of the film being far too dark to see much of anything.

The narrative is genuinely abysmal, it feels like a rushed first draft of a very generic and lazily thought out horror film. Director Sylvain White did not leave much of an impression on me in the slightest.

What's more, any quality that could've been gained from the acting performances is nowhere to be found, with not a single actor putting in anything more than a mediocre performance.

Julia Goldani Telles and Joey King try and fail to evoke anything beyond antipathy from their audience, providing a pair of very weak protagonists with little real personality.

Javier Botet plays the iconic video game monster, but fails to leave anywhere near as much of an impression upon the film.

Finally, I'll mention Annalise Basso, Alex Fitzalan, Jaz Sinclair and Taylor Richardson, for whom I can only really comment that they appeared in this film. I am sad to say that each and every character is utterly forgettable, antagonist included.

Overall, this is a film I hope you all intend on missing, because this film is a complete waste of time.
