NXT Vengeance Day 2025

NXT's alternative to Valentine's Day is their Vengeance Day event, which has proved to be one of their most entertaining shows of the last couple of years. With yet another stacked matchcard, I was definitely looking forward to another exciting NXT Premium Live Event. This brand has been on fire lately with its special shows, and tonight looked like it would be no different.

The opening bout saw the NXT Women's North American Championship being defended by Fallon Henley against Stephanie Vaquer. This felt a little like it was a done deal before the bell even rang, but I thought the two women did a fairly good job of making the result seem a little more uncertain. The match itself was alright - Vaquer looked and felt the smoother competitor. I enjoyed the match, and the finish was very cool to watch. The right woman won, as expected, and I can't wait to see what she does next.

The second match of the night was the NXT Tag Team Championship match between the defending champions 'Fraxiom' and the team of Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura. The challengers were relatively new as a team, but explosive in nature, while the champions utilised their familiar fast-paced and energetic high-flying style. The tag team continuity between each pair was very impressive, and both provided some excellent spots and false finishes. It wasn't a long match, but it was frantic and fun. Both teams were worth their salt and then some. There was an intriguing post-match segment, which I was definitely surprised by. I hope that it goes somewhere for those involved.

The third bout of the evening was a strap match, pitting Eddy Thorpe and Trick Williams against one another. This was another match that looked, on paper at least, as if it would only go one way. I was, regardless, looking forward to what would surely be a chaotic match. I actually thought the match was a little underwhelming, but there were some decent moments. The match ending was pretty shocking, but I can't say I didn't like it. I might be in the minority of that, but I thought it was a cool decision.

Following this came Je'Von Evans against Ethan Page, which had match of the night all over it. The crowd loved this match, and the two men in the ring thrived on that energy. Page used his great storytelling skills, and Evans utilised his insane physical versatility, to provide the fans with a hugely entertaining match. I really liked the story of the match, and the ending certainly worked with it. Both men showed why they are strong presences on the NXT roster, particularly Page.

The penultimate match of the evening saw the might Oba Femi defend his NXT Championship against both Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. The way I saw it, there could only be one winner, however, I was sure it'd be a fun ride either way. And fun really was the word. All three men made sure to turn up the entertainment value in this one, and while the result was never really in doubt, I still enjoyed the match a lot. It's always good seeing the classic wrestling weapons used too. It will be interesting to see what happens with the tag team turned challengers after this match. I hope their storyline actually goes somewhere.

The main event saw Guilia defend her NXT Women's Championship in a 'fatal-4-way' match against Roxanne Perez, Cora Jade, and WWE legend Bayley. I quite enjoyed the way the four women made this match feel quite unpredictable. I would've been shocked if the result went any other way, but the match entertained regardless of that fact. There were some great spots dispersed amongst the chaos, though I will say that things got a little too messy on occasion. I did, however, absolutely love the frantic finish, which was extremely exciting. All-in-all, this was a pretty decent main event.

Overall, this was a solid show, albeit a little predictable. What this show did well was not only to showcase its talent, but also to progress its stories. Furthermore, I thought all of the matches were at least fairly good, with only one really letting me down a little bit. As WWE approaches WrestleMania season, no doubt some of the talent that was featured on this event will be moving to the main roster imminently, and I for one can't wait. This current NXT roster is one of the most diversely talented that they've ever had, and I hope they all succeed if and when they hit the bigger rosters.
