Inside Job: Volume 2 (2022) Cre: Shion Takeuchi

After a seemingly eternal wait, a second volume of this adult animated comedy was finally released. Perhaps the novelty of this Netflix original series had worn off for me a little, but I still enjoyed the characters and stories. Speaking of which, the volume doesn't have as solid a main arc as the first one, but it finishes strong with a great cliffhanger.

The individual episodes retain their entertainment value throughout and are easy to binge. The opening theme is also still one of my favourites of any TV series I've watched.

Lizzy Caplan once again provides the vocals for the main protagonist, and continues to be one of the best characters in the series, showing some good range and timing.

Clark Duke is consistently one of the more silly yet endearing characters. His ability to perform the role of loveable and stupid is admirable.

Christian Slater feels, at times, like an afterthought this season, at least as far as his character goes. That said, when he is involved, he provides a typically good vocal performance.

We also see the returns of cartoon legend John DiMaggio, the hilarious Brett Gelman and the wonderfully entertaining Tisha Campbell - each continuing to provide their own blend of humour and ridiculousness that has helped this series be so funny.

Finally, I'll also mention Andrew Daly, Bobby Lee, Suzy Nakamura and Ron Funches, who all add a little substance with their vocal performances.

Overall, this second volume was a little weaker than its predecessor, but it still has plenty of enjoyable content and continues to utilise its character's well. With the unfortunate news that Netflix has axed this show, we sadly will never see more of this entertaining animated comedy.
