Castlevania: Nocturne - Season 2 (2024) Cre: Clive Bradley

I enjoyed the first season of this Netflix original spin-off series, although, admittedly, it took a couple of episodes to warm up to it. Despite this, however, it had finished strong, and I was pretty excited to see what the second season of this Clive Bradley created show would entail, and if it could keep up the strong momentum it had built in the last few episodes.

This series started a lot stronger than the debut one, with the much needed addition of a great character, who added that extra little 'oomph' to the show. I think the characters improved dramatically, in regards to their depth and quality. It was good to see their development - it was much easier to watch than season one, particularly the early episodes.

The season culminated with an epic finale, which raged across two thrilling episodes, and had some epic moments. I thought it felt like the end of a great anime arc, and it set up a third season quite effectively. I was expecting the season to end a little darker than it did, though that's not to say there weren't enough stakes or threats.

Overall, I thought this was a very solid follow-up season, to what, thus far, has been a very solid show. I still think I prefer the original 'Castlevania' series, but I would definitely say that this has been decent as well. I do wonder how many seasons there will be of this spin-off - I would imagine at least one more, possibly two or three, but time will tell.
