Adventure Time: Season 1 (2010) Cre: Pendleton Ward

When thinking of comfort shows, they usually have a few key features; watchability, light themes, likable characters and short episodes. This beloved animated series, created by Pendleton Ward, has all of these and more.

The animation style is delightful. It is a bundle of bright colours, soft shapes and wacky designs. I think the world building is super creative too. The world feels near enough endless and full of colour and character.

The duo of Jeremy Shada and John DiMaggio form a wonderfully compelling and endearing twosome. DiMaggio is, of course, an animated legend, having voiced a number of iconic characters in other popular series, including Futurama and Disenchanted.

Overall, I adore this first season. It's so silly and lighthearted - I always find it extremely easy to watch. It's a show that feels impossible not to enjoy. I had so much fun rewatching this first season, and this show will always be a comfort watch for me.
