WWE World's Collide 2025

If someone said a few years ago that WWE would host a cross-promotional premium live event featuring the newly acquired AAA promotion, I'd have thought that person was insane. But in 2025, that unlikely prospect became reality, and I was very excited for it. The card had fun written all over it, and I was fully expecting it to deliver on its potential and then some. It looked to be the perfect introduction to Mexican wrestling for WWE fans, and a great warm-up for 'Money In The Bank'.

The event began with a frenetic, fun, and extremely silly six-man tag team match which saw Aerostar, Mr. Iguanas, and Octagon Jr. take on Lince Dorado, as well as WWE and LWO's Dragon Lee and Cruz del Toro. The comedy aspect of this match made it all sorts of fun to watch, with particular credit going to Mr. Iguanas for his antica, but that should not take away from how entertaining the lucha wrestling itself it was. The finish was very impressive, and made sure to start this event in the best way possible. The post-match segment with Dominic Mysterio was very cool to see as well.

The second match of the evening saw 'La Primera' Stephanie Vaquer and Lola Vice take on Dalys and Chik Tormenta in tag team action. The crowd was, of course, very much behind Vaquer in particular, and she certainly showed out. This was an enjoyable back-and-forth with a nicely defined dynamic which lent itself perfectly to the WWE wrestler's popularity. I was really impressed with Vice in this one - she had a truly breakout performance.

In match three of the evening, Legado del Fantasma took on Psycho Clown, Pagano and El Hijo de Dr. Wagner in a six-man tag team match. I enjoyed this one quite a bit, I think both teams put a great deal of effort into making this one as wild as possible, and it paid off for sure. The match did get a little bit sloppy here and there, but it's entertainment value made up for that quite easily. There was a lot going on and it had the live audience fully enthralled from start to finish.

The penultimate match of the evening saw Ethan Page defend his NXT North American Championship against Laredo Kid, Je'Von Evans, and Rey Fenix. This was a ridiculously fast-paced, unpredictable, chaotic, and exciting fatal-4-way, which I couldn't look away from for a moment. It was so intense. I couldn't help but get swept up into the madness of this title match, and when the finish finally came, it was a really smart and suiting way to finish it. What a match.

Finally, it was time for the main event, which saw El Hijo del Vikingo look to defend his AAA Mega Championship against the bane of all luchadores Chad Gable. I was looking forward to this one a lot - Gable has made himself one of the most must-see acts in WWE, and Vikingo is one of the most incredible high-flyers in lucha history. This match was absolutely incredible the whole way through. Both men left everything in the ring. It had a bit of everything - mat wrestling, high-flying, violence, and all around epic in-ring entertainment. Some of the wrestling on display was world class. Gable was smooth and excellent, Vikingo was breathtaking and intense. I loved this match.

Overall, I had hoped for a good exhibition of lucha libre, but my expectations were more than met. This was an epic and unique night of wrestling. I was glad that WWE intercut lots of Mexican and AAA history into the show between and during matches - it both served as education and aura-building in one. But the real success was the in-ring work of all involved. This show was all sorts of fun, and I really hope we get to see more of this kind of thing, as I'm sure we will.
