This year's 'Vengeance Day' event took place all the way back on the 7th March, but I didn't watch it until nearly a month after that - making it another WWE premium live event that I was late to watch in 2026. This is largely because of scheduling conflicts, but, in truth, I simply do not feel as motivated to watch the events live, at the moment. The general quality of the programming has dropped, which seems to be a consensus opinion, currently.
The night's action started with an intense 'street fight' between Jaida Parker and Blake Monroe, which looked like it would be a solid match on paper. I enjoyed a few of the spots, but the early going was a little slow for my liking. Either way, I thought Monroe showed a lot of the creative wrestling that has elevated her career in the last few years. I do think the match improved as it went, and the weapon-fueled finish was pretty cool to see as well.
Next up, there was a bit of a parking lot and backstage brawl between Deon Lennox and Tony D'Angelo, who have been developing a fun and physical rivalry on NXT TV. The brawl was really chaotic and fun - as I was hoping. Lennox has grown so much since his role in 'Darkstate', and this new version of D'Angelo is a welcome change to his character. This segment eventually became a one-on-one match between the two men, which was a fun bonus after the backstage antics, and gave the live crowd a bit more of a spectacle to see in-person. D'Angelo has become a different animal of late, and this kind of wrestling is exactly what I have been waiting to see from him. There was an excellent suplex spot, which I thought was extremely creative. All things considered, this was a great segment-turned-match.
Following this was a NXT Women's North American Championship match, which saw Tatum Paxley challenge her friend-turned-rival Izzie Dame of 'The Culling'. These two have great character chemistry, and this match showed that they have good wrestling chemistry too. I really enjoyed the fight that these two women brought. Some of the sequences in this match were so slick and smart. If I ever needed any convincing that these two women could be top ladies on the main roster, this was the match to prove it. I was extremely impressed.
Before the next match, there was a pretty interesting promo segment, which set up the next NXT Women's Championship match, as well as expanding on some character dynamics between the top contenders. That next match, though, was the 'underground' match between Kelani Jordan and Lola Vice, which I was pretty hyped for. I quite like the match style that 'underground' provides - it's different from the more formal match types. I thought this was a really solid match, which had a lot of in-match story. I really liked some of the creative ways the two women utilised the ringside area, culminating with a very cool and exciting climax.
At last, it was main event time, which meant Joe Hendry defending his NXT Championship against Ricky Saints. These two have emerged as the top two faces on a brand that was stripped of a lot of its top talents in the last few months, and this was the one-on-one match that really established that. This was a solid match, which built pretty smoothly into a really nice back-and-forth affair. I thought it was about to get really good, but then it got a little messy, which took away from it a little bit. With that said, it was an entertaining title match and an entertaining way to end the show.
Overall, I thought this was a really decent NXT premium live event, which had some really cool moments on it. I was a particularly big fan of the Paxley and Dame match, which was great fun, and, in mu opinion, superior to their previous one-on-one match. In general, I do think there is a slight lack of star power on the brand at the moment, but hopefully the next cycle will change that. Regardless, the wrestling was good up and down the card, which bodes well for 'Stand & Deliver'; NXT's biggest event of the year.
