Lilo And Stitch (2002) Dir: Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois

This 2002 animation is one of Disney's more underrated productions. As far as why, it is likely due to its rather out there premise, though I actually believe that this is a strength. It's a lot more unique than the majority of Disney films, not only in story, but setting, certainly in 2002 anyway, and concept.

The narrative is fun and heartwarming, and whilst it may be a little loose at points, I don't feel this is much of a negative impact. The animation is wonderful, being in the style of the more traditional Disney exports of decades goneby.

Chris Sanders voices Stitch, as well as being co-director, and gives the little alien a hilarious level of humour and entertainment value, as well as a surprising amount of development.

Daveigh Chase voices our protagonist, and is positively adorable, to be honest. I really enjoyed the energy she gave to the character - it really made the film that much better.

Tia Carrere is another with a substantial role, and she executes her role well, working very well with Chase. Jason Scott Lee is far more of a supporting character here, but still provides some good moments throughout his time onscreen.

Ving Rhames is great fun as his mysterious character - he absolutely nails his role. Finally, I'll give mentions to Kevin Michael Richardson, David Ogden Stiers and Kevin Mcdonald, all of whom gave enjoyable performances in their supporting roles.

Overall, I would say this is an extremely funny and enjoyable sci-fi adventure. Supported by the musical expertise of Alan Silvestri, directors Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois do a wonderful job to create a film that is not only suitable for just about all ages, but entertaining for all ages.
