Dario Argento's 1977 horror movie has become idolised for its unique, beautiful and mysterious nature. It is renowned for its fascinating use of colour, which is magnificently vibrant. The set design is exquisite and emphasises the colours and quirks of the film. This truly is a visual masterpiece.
The story is mysterious, suspenseful and dreamlike, leading the audience through a technicolor horror of the absurd and the uncertain.
Jessica Harper is mystifying and entrancing as the film's lead - she was stunning, consistent and utterly bewitching from beginning to end.
Stefania Casini was the most notable of the supporting cast, and provided a very strong performance. Her delivery of dialogue was especially good.
I will also make note of the following cast members; Flavio Bucci, Barbara Magnolfi, Susanna Javicoli, Alida Valli and Joan Bennett.
Overall, this film fascinated me from start to finish. Its entrancing visuals compliment its mysterious story and soundtrack to form a hugely influential and memorable piece of cinema.
