Riley's First Date (2015) Dir: Josh Cooley

This 9 minute short film seemed like it would be a bit of fun, so I figured why not check it out. Josh Cooley's fun little scenario played out very entertainingly, with the cheeky, family-friendly humour which made the feature film this is derived from so enjoyable.

The animation was to the same standards as the feature film too, which was really satisfying to see - a lot of shorts end up with less-impressive visuals, which always disappoints. On that point, the short also keeps the voice cast too, which is another plus in my books.

Overall, while this is only a throw-away scene done for the sake of a few laughs, it made for pleasant viewing, and had me chuckling a few times throughout. It isn't essential to watch it, of course, but it's not the worst idea to give it a watch for those who enjoyed the full film.
