Despicable Me (2010) Dir: Pierre Coffin & Chris Renaud

Instagram post:

It's strange to think that this film is 12 years old already, having come out in 2010, which feels so recent. In the decade plus since its release, the film has been very popular with people of all ages and spawned numerous sequels and spin-off movies.

It's a hilarious romp of a film which matches comedy with a very sound narrative to create a wonderful and popular adventure with a playful and unique premise.

Steve Carrell stars, providing an excellent and hysterical vocal performance which is perfect for his character.

Jason Segel plays the antagonist, and matches his character's energy perfectly - he's the best villain in the whole franchise.

Miranda Cosgrove provides the voice for Margo, the oldest sister, and impresses with a solid performance. She works well with her sibling costars; Dana Gaier and Elsie Fisher, who also give enjoyable performances - particularly Fisher.

Russell Brand brings his familiar voice and timing to his supporting role as Dr. Nefario, I have to say this was a really good casting choice.

Finally, I'll give mentions to Kristen Wiig, Julie Andrews and Will Arnett - each giving fun performances in their supporting roles.

Overall, directors' Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud produce a fantastic and highly entertaining animated comedy that will make you laugh every time you watch it.
