A Few Good Men (1992) Dir: Rob Reiner

Instagram post:

This film is mainly known for one iconic scene which has transcended cinema and been iconicised in pop culture. That's for good reason, but I feel like the film as a whole should be talked about more.

It has a slow build that creates some quiet suspense before coming to an understated intense climax. The acting from the main cast is phenomenal.

Tom Cruise seems to get better and better as the film progresses, which to be honest, is exactly what you want.

Jack Nicholson is, as you'd expect, brilliant in his role, producing one of the best performances of his illustrious career.

Demi Moore provides a good support and contradiction to Cruise - she really suited this character.

Kevin Pollak gives a reasonable account of his acting credentials in his supporting role too. In more minor roles, Kevin Bacon, Liefer Sutherland and Wolfgang Bodison all also give good performances, particularly Bodison in my opinion.

Overall, you can clearly see why this is considered to be one of the best war dramas produced in the 90s. It's a slow burner, but it works so well - a very well written screenplay.
